Months of planning finally came to fruition on Saturday 25th April at just after 9am when the members of other clubs in the Grampian area started arriving at the St Mary’s Church Hall, Banff for the 2015 Grampian Eye Competition.
Club members were welcomed with tea and coffee along with pancakes and scones. Many taking to opportunity to meet with friends and we hope make some new ones before the judging started.
The turnout was excellent with over 120 club members from throughout the Grampian region making the trip to Banff. Our judge, Al Buntin ARPS MPAGB, was excellent and we would like to thank him and his lovely wife for agreeing to make the trip north. His judgements into the images were insightful and certainly gave us something to think about – remember to crop that sky. He selected 9 images to receive a Commended award and 7 for a highly commended.
Our scorers worked very hard throughout the day. They checked and triple checked the scores and were pleased to announce the final scores for the Grampian Eye Competition 2015.

Congratulations to you all, and especially to Bon Accord Camera Club for winning this year’s title.
A special mention must be made to the lovely ladies who provided our catering on the day. They provided us with the most wonderful buffet lunch with options for everyone, as well as pancakes and scones in the morning and fancy pieces and cake at our tea break time. We received many lovely comments regarding the food, and it was very well deserved.
We would also like to thank Tom MacLennan who guided us through the hire of the hall, and worked like a trojan all day yesterday making sure everything was just perfect – and it was.
Our sponsors have exceeded our expectations with their generosity and we cannot thank them enough. AD Walker of Banff, Echomaster Marine Ltd, Macduff, Portsoy Ice Cream Shop, Macduff Dental Practice and Ffords of Beauty for the wonderful prizes for our raffle.
The committee members of Deveron Camera club have been fantastic without them the day would not have been the success if undoubtably was. Their organisation and guidance has been second to none and ensured that everything ran smoothly. Also to the members of the club (and their families) who assisted on the day we are very grateful.
We enjoyed organising the event and wish Criagewan Photographic Group all the very best with the 2016 event.

We are very pleased to advise that Al Buntin ARPS MPAGB has kindly agreed to be our judge for this year’s competition. Al is a photographer of some renown and his ability to turn his photographs into works of art is second to none. As Al himself says on his website ‘all you need is a little bit of imagination’. You can see some of Al’s work for yourself at www.albuntin.com.
